Probably a hybrid, originally found and grown in England and therefore certainly more garden-tolerant and less summer deciduous than first-generation, wild-sourced selections. Buds are purple, open to violet purple flowers with deep blue faces. Leaves are larger, medium green, against burgundy stems. We haven't grown this before, it will be interesting to watch it's bloom timing and overall performance against the wilder forms. To about 18" tall and wide.
