There’s still time to get your summer veggies and herbs planted. We’re still in the sweet spot, but you don’t want to wait too much longer.

Step 1

Improve your soil. Whether your garden beds are clayey, loamy or sandy… the regular addition of compost is essential for improving soil structure, providing nutrients, and encouraging beneficial soil dwellers (microbes, earthworms, etc.) to inhabit your garden.

Step 2

Plant summer veggies and herbs that you like to eat and cook with. Plant a few “safe bets” like cherry tomatoes, ‘Early Girl’ tomato and basil… then have fun and try something new like a grafted vegetable or novelty heirloom. Plant early in the day… water in well… then mulch with microbark or shredded cedar.

Tip: Don’t forget EB Stone Sure Start starter fertilizer! Mix into the soil per package instructions prior to planting.

Step 3

Stake or cage taller plants, and mulch your veggies and herbs to help suppress weeds and conserve soil moisture.
